Destination coverage

StrikeTracks is a growing network of rivers, lakes, coastal waters, and offshore destinations. Destinations are added when useful observations, fishery importance, and responsible local context justify inclusion. Coverage quality matters more than raw destination count.

StrikeTracks does not claim complete coverage of every state, region, or waterbody type. Browse the current catalog on the homepage Explore map rather than relying on a static list.

Current first-class destinations

The public catalog currently includes 459 rivers, 337 lakes, 124 coastal destinations, and 62 offshore destinations (982 total). Counts come from the live catalog, not a marketing target.

What a destination may include

  • Rivers: flow, gage height, water temperature, weather, historical context, fishery and access notes where configured.
  • Lakes: elevation or level, water temperature, trend, weather, historical context, species and access notes where configured.
  • Coastal: tides, currents, marine observations, wind, alerts, and seasonal fishery context where configured.
  • Offshore: a first-class destination category. Fishing-condition status is currently Information Only. When supported, Marine Conditions add planning context such as official marine forecasts, alerts, or approved representative observations. Marine Conditions are not a fishing score. Information Only is not Unavailable.

Information Only is a condition-service classification, not an Offshore-only label. It may apply to a river, lake, coastal, or offshore destination when StrikeTracks does not provide a live-condition product by design. An active condition product that cannot currently produce a trustworthy result is Unavailable. Estimated Conditions appear only where an accepted estimated path exists.

Coverage continues to grow

StrikeTracks now covers fishing destinations across multiple U.S. regions and continues to expand based on fishery importance, available observations, and the strongest condition guidance we can responsibly provide. Coverage varies by state and waterbody type as new rivers, lakes, coastal destinations, and offshore destinations are added. Configured destinations can still be temporarily unavailable when required data is missing or a source is down. Unavailable is not the same as unsupported, and it is not the same as Information Only.
